Research
A corpus-driven discourse analysis of presidential campaign speeches by Kamala Harris
2024-2025
Examined the rhetoric of political speeches by presidential nominee Kamala Harris. Analyze data using mixed-methods, including corpus-driven analysis using AntConc and English Corpora. Findings indicated a design to minimize Harris’s intersectional identities. The speeches express ideological themes pertaining to women’s rights, optimism for the future, and religious belief.
Anglicization: Undercurrents of name change practices

Investigated the anglicization practices of bilingual speakers and speakers of bilingual backgrounds to identify whether the anglicization of names perceived as non-English persists and which sociocultural factors may influence this practices. Analyzed data using mixed-methods, including surveys and interviews. Assessed the implications of anglicization behaviors for their experiences and identities, identifying three key themes: Pronunciation, environment, and cultural identity and assimilation. Concluded that name anglicization is an ongoing practice across various demographics seeking to meet the standards of an English dominant society.
